We are a community of volunteers dedicated to preserving, enhancing, and celebrating Sidney Gardens as a cherished green space for all to enjoy. Whether you’re a regular visitor, a nature lover, or simply passionate about your local community, we invite you to join us in protecting and improving this historic park.
Maintenance: We help by organising gardening sessions, coordinating with Community Payback and other partner groups such as Able2Achieve to support the work of Yeovil Town Council in keeping the park looking great all year round.
Conservation: We are passionate about conserving both heritage and biodiversity by providing plants and habitats to attract wildlife, and prioritising funding bids to preserve historic features.
Development: We have grand plans to pursue a large scale restoration project for the gardens that would renew the infrastructure, restore heritage features, and provide better bins, benches and signage. We are in talks with Yeovil Town Council already.
Community: We want to bring the gardens to life by forging stronger links with the community of Yeovil. We have already developed great relationships with a number of partners in the town such as Yeovil Art Space and Able2Achieve. In future we hope to host small community scale events in the gardens to bring people together.
Engagement: Our priority is to gather ideas and feedback from residents of Yeovil, to ensure Sidney Gardens continues to serve the local community. We run consultation on specific projects to decide what the community wants in the gardens. Recently, over 200 people responded to our survey about the Cedar tree in the park. We are currently seeking funding to carve it.
By working together, we can protect and improve Sidney Gardens for future generations. If you’d like to get involved, support our projects, or learn more about our work, we’d love to hear from you!
